ANDREI LAZĂR is a graduate of the National University of Music in Bucharest, winner of the Grand Trophy of the National Song Competition "Ionel Perlea" (13th edition), the 2nd prize of the National Romanian Song Performance Competition (4th edition), the Romanian Music Forum Award (2013), as well as the VIP Gala Award - Children's Theatre Section.

As a soloist of the National Opera of Bucharest, where he has been performing since 2011, Andrei Lazar has appeared in more than twenty operas from the company's repertoire, as well as in numerous recitals and concerts. He performed in the premiere of Dan Dediu's "O scrisoare pierdută" (A Lost Letter) and had the pleasure of being part of the institution's most recent projects, directed by renowned directors such as Stephen Barlow ("Rigoletto"; "Phantom of the Opera"), Vera Nemirova ("Otello"), Jonathan Kent ("Manon Lescaut"), John Fulljames ("Cosi fan tutte"), Valentina Carrasco ("Oedipe"), Paul Curran ("La traviata"), Graham Vick ("Fidelio"), Andrei Șerban ("Lucia di Lammermoor"), "Don Giovanni"), Giancarlo del Monaco ("Otello"), Ion Caramitru ("Pagliacci", "Evgheni Oneghin"), Anda Tăbăcaru Hogea ("Don Giovanni"), Ștefan Neagrău ("O Scrisoare Pierdută"), Mario del Carlo ("Don Carlo", "Turandot").

Mr. Lazăr has performed in numerous opera, recital and concert performances, both in Bucharest and in the country, with the National Radio Orchestra, Radio Big Band, George Enescu Philharmonic, Bucharest Symphony Orchestra, Bucharest Metropolitan Orchestra, Oltenia Philharmonic, Botoșani Philharmonic, Constanta Opera and Ballet Theatre, Romanian National Opera Iasi, Sibiu State Philharmonic, etc. under the direction of Ludovic Bacs, Keri-Lynn Wilson, Cristian Mandeal, Ira Levin, Nicolae Moldoveanu, Vlad Conta, Tiberiu Soare, Jin Wang, David Crescenzi, Adrian Morar, Alberto Veronesi, Iurie Florea, Alexander Prior, Ciprian Teodorașcu, Daniel Jinga, etc. He also has a special affinity for the chamber repertoire of Lied and oratorio.

Since January 2015, inaugurating the new premises of the Ion Dacian Operetta and Musical Theatre in Bucharest, he has starred in a super-production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Phantom of the Opera, directed by Stephen Barlow. In the 2016-2017 season, he performs in the operetta "Liliacul" by J. Strauss, directed by the Italian artist Matteo Mazzoni. He also performs in the concert formula.

As part of the team of the Comic Opera for Children, of which he was soloist between 2008 and 2016, he has contributed to the education of young audiences through dozens of productions and hundreds of performances, enriching his palmares with titles of opera bufa, musical, variety, operetta or interactive concert. He has performed in successful and long-lived titles such as "Coana Chirița", "O noapte furtunoasa", "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", "Gianni Schicchi", "Piatra din Casa", "L'Elisir d'Amore", "The Magic Flute", "Monsieur Choufleuri", "Hapciu in Re Major", "Chirița in Iasi", "Dl Goe şi ai lui" and others.

With all the institutions he's worked with, Mr. Lazăr has toured the most important cultural centres in Romania, but also countries spanning four continents (India, United States, Israel, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Tunisia, Spain, Canada, Egypt, Croatia), bringing the message of our culture to festivals or audiences in the Diaspora. Particularly noteworthy is the recital with soprano Felicia Filip in 2016 for the ICR Budapest and the invitation as soloist in Tallinn (Estonia) for a programme of Romanian cultural music with the famous choir Accoustic, conducted by Daniel Jinga.

On the theatre stage he worked with directors such as Cristian Mihăilescu, Traian Săvinescu, Dan Tudor, Mircea Diaconu, Radu Apostol.

He appeared at the George Enescu International Festival (2007, 2011, 2013, 2017), the International Festival of New Music (2012, 2013), the Sibiu International Festival of Lyric Art (2009-2013), the Festival of Young Talents (Râmnicu Vâlcea), the Bucharest of Caragiale Festival (2012, 2014), the Opera Nights Festival (Huniazilor Castle, 2015), Ethos Summer Festival in Arad (2013-2015), ICon Arts Festival (Sibiu, 2016), Piatra Neamt International Music Holidays Festival - 44th edition (2017), as well as Mozartissimo Festival (Bucharest, 2016) and Lipatti House Evenings (Bucharest 2018, 2019), Acapella & Friends Christmas Concerts held at the Thalia Hall of the Sibiu State Philharmonic in 2016, 2017.

He is also frequently invited to participate in various cultural events organised by the Centre for Creation, Art and Tradition C.R.E.A.R.T. Bucharest ("Love is in the music" - 2016; "Bucharest, the capital of love" - 2017; "Silent night" - 2015, 2017; "Christmas Fair:"). - Constituției Square 2017, 2018, 2019; "Traditions, flowers and holidays" - Herăstrău Park, 2018); Cultural Centre of Bucharest A.R.C.U.B. With the aim of integrating himself as fully as possible into the local musical landscape, Andrei Lazăr has recently been involved in important projects alongside well-known names from the country's crossover music scene, such as Ozana Barabancea (concert series "Lumini Sonore by Ozana Barabancea"), Marcel Pavel and Vlad Miriță ( with whom he performed in a trio), , Monica Anghel, Nico, Luminița Anghel, Andrei Tudor, Ionel Tudor, Paula Seling, Irina Baianț, Alexandra Ușurelu, Ionuț Ungureanu (Provincialii), Ligia Hojda, Lavinia Goste, Cornel Ilie (Vunk), Virgil Ianțu, Loredana, Mihai Georgescu (Bere Gratis), George Miron (Acapella choir).

In November 2017, he performed the song "Ochii tăi" (composer Cristian Faur), which won the first prize at the Music ADA Creation Contest, held at the Romanian Broadcasting Company - Bucharest and broadcast by TVR during the show dedicated to the centenary "Drag de România mea".

In November 2018, Andrei joined the important names of pop music and the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra at the Cinema Pro Hall for the event "SymphoPOPS", created and conducted by composer Andrei Tudor, a tribute to Romanian pop music classics and those who carry it forward.

Mr. Lazăr also participated in projects of independent musical and theatrical institutions, together with well-known actors such as Mircea Diaconu, Anca Sigartău, Florin Zamfirescu, Cristian Iacob, Ionut Vișan, Mihaela Rădescu, Dana Rotaru, Ionut Vian, Mihaela Rădescu, Eugen Cristea, Dana Rotaru, on stage, but also in unconventional places in the Capital, Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Focșani, Craiova, Brașov, Sighișoara, Lugoj, Constanța, Buzău, Sibiu.

In the administrative field, Andrei Lazăr (graduate of the Faculty of Political and Administrative Sciences) collaborates with the Stela Popescu Theatre, a public cultural institution under the Bucharest City Hall, where he has been working since its foundation in 2016, successively as an artist, interim manager, deputy director and is currently part of the production and performance organisation department.
