Giuseppe Ficara, classical guitarist, son of the painter Franz Ficara, comes from the great school of Andrés Segovia. He studied with Linda Calsolaro, Oscar Ghiglia and Nicholas Alfonso. He graduated with honors from the National Conservatory of Bari under the direction of Nino Rota and received the Premier Prix at the Royal Brussels Conservatory.

Giuseppe Ficara has been a performer for decades and is the winner of numerous awards, among which is the First Prize at the Fernando Sor International Competition in Rome in 1976.

Mo. Ficara was Professor of Classical Guitar at the "G. B. Martini" National Conservatory of Bologna and the "G. Rossini" National Conservatory of Pesaro and has taught in several other National Conservatories in Italy.

He has also given concerts and master classes in Europe, USA, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and India. He has given master classes and lectures at the Universities of Melbourne (Australia), Stellenbosch and Cape Town (South Africa), the International House and the Italian Studies of Brown University, as well as in Italy, Belgium and France, where he often resides as a member of the Moulin d'Andé Cultural Association.

Giuseppe is known for his unique style, which blends traditional and contemporary elements. Specializing in the original Italian repertoire, he has rediscovered, premiered, and recorded many works by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco since 1980, following correspondence with his widow, Clara. As Visiting Scholar at Brown University (Providence, USA) in 2011, he strongly promoted and supported the realization of the Castelnuovo-Tedesco International Conference in September 2012, organizing events, lectures and concerts dedicated to the Italo-American composer.

In 2005, the famous French film music composer Pierre Jansen dedicated a Concerto for Guitar and Strings to Ficara, which was premiered in Perugia and published by Bèrben in 2006.

Since 2014, he performs in the Duo Diabelli with the Italian pianist Letizia Innocenti, rediscovering together a brilliant and original repertoire of the Italian Risorgimento.
